The Merriott J. Terry Scholarship Fund 2018-2019

IGNITE’S MISSION AND SCHOLARSHIP OFFERINGS

IGNITE in Texas builds political ambition in young women ages 14-25. The Merriott J. Terry IGNITE in Texas Scholarship Fund is named in honor of the founding Executive Director of IGNITE in Texas, Merriott J. Terry. The scholarship serves to assist college women interested in furthering their education to ultimately serve their community as an elected official or in other public service offices. Two scholarships of up to $1000 are available to qualified applicants.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS IGNITE

Texas funds graduating female high school seniors and enrolled female college students. High school students graduating from Texas schools are eligible to apply. College students attending institutions in Texas are eligible to apply. All applicants must use awarded funds at an accredited institution in North America. Applicants should possess the desired career goal of serving as an elected official or other public servant. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Completed applications are due to cydnei@ignitenational.org by 5PM CST on December 15, 2018. No late submissions are accepted. Transcripts must be received by mail by the December 15th deadline. Applications are incomplete until all listed materials are received.

Applicants should submit the following materials:

  • Completed application
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources (letters from personal/family sources are not accepted)
  • Current resume strongly suggested but not required
  • A copy of the student’s most recent transcript

SELECTION PROCESS

Once all application materials are received, the scholarship committee reviews each submission and selects the students that will receive the funds. The committee makes the determination of the value of each scholarship based on academic performance and merit.
