I’m still riding high on the energy of Young Women Run 2018.

IGNITE’s annual national conference was our mission manifested: a movement of young women ready to own their political power. When I asked  “who is going to run for office?” every single hand in the room shot up.

Over 110 young women from 26 states convened in Washington D.C. to receive training on fundraising, voter contact, on-air media skills, and more. They got to hear from multiple Congresswomen and prominent national activists around gun violence, immigration and other pressing national issues. It made me feel hopeful at a moment when I’m down in the dumps when it comes to the current political environment. Young women are going to save our nation, and I hope IGNITE can play some part in making that happen.

“I will be the first female Asian American governor of Kansas because I feel the fierce urgency of now to create a government for the people that is represented by all people.” - Mai Mizuno, Manhattan, Kansas

The majority of young women in attendance made it to Young Women Run on scholarship support thanks to our generous donors.

Be sure to read our conference recap and check out our photo album.

I hope to see you at one of our conferences this coming year. Stay tuned for 2018/2019 dates and new cities!

Anne Moses

Farewell, Margo!

Our Texas State Director, Dr. Margo McClinton Stoglin, recently moved on from IGNITE. During Margo's three-year tenure, IGNITE programming has expanded dramatically and we’ve training thousands of young women at more than 45 schools and colleges across Texas,  mobilizing these young women to vote, run for office on their campuses and communities, and become civically engaged. We are grateful for Margo's leadership and wish her much success in her next journey!

Margo conveys her deepest gratitude to all the people she has met while at IGNITE. She can be reached at mmmcclinton@gmail.com or 214-918-8233. If you have any immediate questions about IGNITE programming in Texas, please contact Lizzie Robbins, IGNITE Texas Program Manager, lizzie@ignitenational.org, or by phone at 703-615-8063. IGNITE's Candidate of the Month: Jocelyn Yow

Alumni Jocelyn Yow is running for city council in her hometown of Eastvale, California to advocate for her city and provide the tools to create a strong, family-oriented community. Growing up in a working-class immigrant family, her parents instilled in her the importance of community service.
