IGNITE Colorado Young Women's Political Leadership Conference

On November 14, 2015 we hosted our 2nd Annual IGNITE Colorado Young Women's Political Leadership Conference. The event offered training and encouragement to politically ambitious young women.

The conference was held at the Denver Courthouse and was co-hosted by the Office of Women and Families at the City and County of Denver, The Blossom Project & The Women's Lobby of Colorado. Young women dove into current and pressing public policy issues and problems, and gained insight on ways to become more active leaders in their communities. Workshops included sessions on sexual assault, paid leave, minimum wage and voting.

Our keynote speaker for the afternoon was President and CEO of The Women’s Foundation of Colorado, Lauren Casteel. Elected officials joined students for lunch and networking, including: Kerry Donovan CO State Senator, Crisanta Duran CO State Representative, Emma Pinter Westminster City Council Member and Shakti, Lakewood City Council. Candidates for elected office attended this very special lunch as well, including: Rochelle Galindo for Greeley City Council, Paola Urgiles for Adams county School Board, Jordan Sauers for Northglenn City Council, Erin Bennett for CO Senate and Dafna Michaelson Jenet for CO House District 30.
