The IGNITE internship program is designed for high school and college students, including those in graduate and law school programs. Participants gain valuable professional experience while building the tools, self-confidence and leadership skills that can be readily applied to future professional challenges and pursuits. At IGNITE interns are carefully prepared to bridge the gap between the academic and professional world. 

We welcome applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence, a keen interest in advancing women in politics or desire a career in public service. Students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

School credit available—pending program requirements and approval. Interns will work with their IGNITE supervisor and school contact to ensure credits are awarded as appropriate. Other key benefits of the IGNITE internship program include:

Major Projects

Major projects are subject to program needs of the current semester and the location of your internship. Some of the major projects interns are working on include: 

  • High School Curriculum Research
  • Boards & Commissions Research 
  • College Chapter Website & Blog Maintenance
  • Alumni Database Maintenance
  • Program Enrollment Data Collection & Analysis
  • High School & College Program Support
  • Event Marketing, Public Relations & Social Media Engagement
  • Development: Fundraising, Prospect Research & Annual Fund Support
  • Conference Planning & Logistics
  • National Elected Network Support

 

General Responsibilities

Daily duties will vary by your internship location. You will work with your assigned supervisor to establish a regular schedule for the duration of your internship, usually 10-15 hours per week. General duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Miscellaneous Administrative tasks 
  • Program Support and Research
  • Event Planning and Logistics
  • Website Management
  • Data Entry & Analysis
  • Provide additional support to team members

IGNITE is a national organization, we have remote internship opportunities as well as office locations in:

  • Oakland, CA
  • Irving, TX

 

Deadline 

IGNITE is on a rolling application schedule, please get your application in by the below dates:

Fall Semester: September 25, 2017
Spring Semester: February 12, 2017
Summer Semester: June 1, 2017
