A note from IGNITE's Founder & President:
If I were 18, I’d be ten times more enraged by “politics as usual” than I already am. Our elected officials are failing future generations through inaction.
Enough is enough. At IGNITE we have long known investing in young women is essential. We must harness their activism and empower them to run.
I stand with the young women who are at the forefront of activism in American.
I stand with the young women who are stepping up where adults are failing.
IGNITE stands with all the politically ambitious young women who will be running to take the seats of elected officials that continue to let them down.
In June, we are convening 150+ young women in Washington D.C. for our national Young Women’s Run Conference, where young women get tools, networks and training to launch their campaigns. We are committed to making sure that any interested young woman can get this training - regardless of income limitations. Help us bring young women to D.C. by contributing today.
If you want to see these women in elected office in 2018 and beyond donate to our Young Women Run scholarship fund. Gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 thanks to the generous support of Yali Lancroft.
Stand with IGNITE. Stand with young women.

IGNITE's Candidate of the Month: Mya Whitaker
Alumni Mya Whitaker is Oakland. Born and raised in East Oakland, she has a profound love for her city and is taking significant steps to show it:
“I am running for Oakland City Council District 6 to bring a new vision and perspective to the table. We need representation from Oakland natives who understand the history of our city and who can help build a promising future for generations to come. I’m here to fight for youth, small business and our public safety!”
Learn more about what inspires Mya to make Oakland a better place for the next generation.
First you marched, now you run
You are fired up, have solutions for change and are ready to lead. You took to the streets for March for Our Lives, demanding change and for politicians to do their jobs:
“We need adults to listen to our youth and act on it. They can't passively sit there, nod their heads and pretend to hear our voices. Young people will continue to fight because, despite it all, we are the change makers.” - Esmeralda Cortez, IGNITE Alumni
Esmeralda was in 5th grade when her brother, Hernan, was shot a few blocks from her house. He was 18 when he died. Going to March for Our Lives in D.C. was personal and political for Esmeralda. She blogged about her experience for Cosmopolitan.
If those in power won’t listen, IGNITE knows a few thousand young women who will gladly take a place in elected office!
